Last windows complain ;)

Got really really frustrated with windows just now… really.. how can people work with it… must be me…

elive is great! even though running a system from cd has hos problems, its still faster

Reformatted my memstick, put my home dir on there, so now every time I restart I plug in my stick and mount it at /home/elive so that I have my own config, no need to reconfig everything every time

well dont need to reconfig stuff othen but its nicer his way

probably going to regret it if I need to transfer some of the contents from the stick to windows… hmmm… well can always email the stuff

copied its contents before formatting it to ext3 to the disk (ramdisk) then copied it back works great, also copied the contents of the original /home/elive to the stick, so works great… bit slow, but in my opinion still better than windows hmm need to figure out the printers still tho…

Well project day 3 whent good I think, results from yesterday look good, to soon to conclude anything on it atm but it’s looking good.

Ohhh I live the virtual workspaces… I really miss that on windows

OpenOffice Excel is a bit diffrent it seems with a couple of things, but very workable better then the first version I tried… hmm actually it was still called staroffice back then v2.0 is definetly an improvement. I normally used MS Office for Mac a long time which works and looks better than the windows version and I have been told that by windows users so don’t flame me for that

Hmm the lagging it gets when it needs to load from CD is a bit annoying.. but not as bad as when windows skips the audio when I load a heavy page… atleast this is a good reason to lag

And these machine are actually pretty good, not old crappy machines.. P4 2.80 Ghz, 512MB mem (could do with more but hey its ok)

No OpenGL on the vidcard… but it might be because the stuff on the elive cd doesnt recognize it, but I shouldt be able to play games anyway I NEED TO WORK!

And working I do…

Need to get something changed on my linux machine at home then I can connect to it through the firewall(s) and run some apps from home and won’t be bother by the firewall no more

Going home in a couple of days, so can set it then for when I go back here, or get my brother to do it when he’s there…

Project…

Well started the project yesterday, bleeding birds, prepping stuff etc…

Did first thing today, think it whent fine, some minor mistakes in my protocol, but that was to be expected… will see tomorrow if it when good or not…

We watched Kill Bill I & II yesterday evening/night… was fun… small group tho, everybody is away for the weekend, or away for xmas already…

Hmm working form linux again waaay better than windows

Lunar problems…

I was taking a little walk outside this evening, waiting for windows to burn a cd… and saw the moon shining nicely on the quiet water of the sea… so I whent back inside grabbed my camera, and ofcource.. when I got back outside there where clouds… to bad.. would have been a nice picture, well I’ll try again when I leave, so you people might have a nice picture tomorrow…

second to last day of the session, friday I start my own project… almost have that figured out. math is coming along very well, almost finished now, seem to be understanding the stuff

The CD I was burning was the elive cd looking to see how linux runs on this system, and I wanted to try thatone out anyways very little nice live cd’s left these days… well, going to try that out in a few…

found out that if I really shake the iBook well, it sometimes starts up.. read the crash report it made at the kernel panic, and aperantl soemthing whent wrong in the videocard… and it crashed again at the moment I moved it a bit… very scary, so totally unplugged the thing, waiting to get home and try it one more time copy my stuff and then hmm I dunno hang it on the wall or something

Burn it

Hmm no I dunno… try to fix it ofcource, its obvious something is loose inside, which isnt good, definatly going to take apart every part of it and then  put it back together see if that helps, cant get any worse then it is now.

Think I’m doing ok on windows, still frustrates me once in a while, but I’m managing

Tomorrow last day of the session, then my own project.. hmm I hope that goes ok, going to be along after friday..

To the birds…

Whent to bed around 22:00 yesterday, so was rather early for me, still had trouble getting up tho

But got about 2 more hours of sleep than avarage, so not to bad… started rather crappy this morning.. no idea why, just feeling crappy…

Got better during the day, and now I’m rather happy tho no idea why… wierd…

Well, not complaining right now… every happy moment is one you should have, not question

Didn’t do much interesting today (yet again) prepeard some stuff for my upcoming project… waiting approval.

So.. tomorrow… doing the easy work… last couple of days of the session… after that, my project.. going to be interesting… suprevisor won’t be here.. have to do it all on my own.. she will be here the first day, to catch/bleed birds, its to much to do that alone… but afterthat Its just me…

Today at 16:02 the iBook gave its last ‘beep’

after struggeling for months the end is here.

reanimation might be possible when I get home where I have the proper tools, however I have little hope that will sucseed.

Today has been yet another uneventfull day… am about to pour (agar)plates again…

Did some more work on my math… coming along slowly.

Birds where fine today.. noting special… one was really soft

Getting used to the windows

Has been nice working today, we had someone visiting yesterday and today, just to see at the assay because she is going to do about the same. working on my math assignment for school… took a while but I’m almost finished with 1 out of 3

Really strange that the IF statement in Excel doesnt has an | (OR) function bu tdoes have an & (AND)… Yes yes I know there is a LOGICAL OR in there, and I used that, but I would have expected it to be intern to the IF statement.

It’s DECEMBER! and still no snow…

Did the ‘downstairs job’ today, which means I did not do the killing assay as I normally do, instead I finished cleaning the cages, and cleaned the ‘new’ birds we got in the outside cage, these birds are very active and usually shit on people cleaning thier cage, however I’m clean Whent in quietly, not moving to fast so they would scare let them hop out of the way… so I was nice to them they where nice to me

Did some shopping, got food for the next couple of days, forgot to bring frozen pizza… thats always nice if you have worked long and don’t feel lik eprepping a decent dinner

Yesterday evening/night was nice, we played risk.. never played that before, was fun, untill I got beaten… I did pretty well in the beginning actually, conquered the australian section and had europ for a turn… and a part of the americas… unfortunatly after that I got run over… by a girl… really

Working on my report again, going fine, still messing with windows but won’t complain about that anymore (unless it does something really stupid, oh wait.. it did…)

Whats the use of having network profiles if I don’t get my profile if I change my computer? I mean, I log in, but my icons aren’t there.. programs are on my netdrive.. but need I get a msg ‘they are not installed’ uhhh… well.. maybe I just don’t get what the network profile is then… but I expected it to be that I had my progs and settings on all the machines on the network.. but even the settings are diffferent… very wierd… might just be me tho

Still no snow here (not this part of the Netherlands anyway)… really hope I’ll see some snow soon… its around 2 degrees (Celsius) during the day, forecast for the night is.. hmm cold

Working

Yes actually working on my school stuff and setting up a protocol for the project I start the 9th.

Have been having a good day today, kim is leaving Potvis tonight, going to miss drinking tea with her and the rest.

Going to be busy next couple of days, when I’m online I’m going to be behind the firewall most of the time, still havn’t been able to bypass the thing (can you believe they have 3? and they mainly block things from going outside?)

Soo.. not much MOOing unfortunatly.

Besides Kim leaving it has been an uneventfull day.

Worked, did laundry worked some more… so now I’m here blogging again, and working on my project.

Might add something more later, but atm I’m kinda boring I guess.
